There's a quiz strategy that's quietly outperforming almost every other email list building tactic right now - and it's simpler than you'd think. I used it to build The Luxury Gap, a free brand assessment for premium service businesses, and in this post I'm walking you through exactly how I did it using TryInteract.
WHY A QUIZ INSTEAD OF A PDF
Here’s the honest thing - my first instinct was a PDF guide. I’ve done it before with Squarespace Website Checklist - clean, designed, downloadable. The kind of thing every designer offers. But that’s exactly the problem. Every designer offers it. Website checklists, brand guides, marketing workbooks - the internet is literally full of them and nobody is excited to download another one.
A quiz is different. It’s interactive. It gives people something back immediately - a personalized, genuine result, not a generic document. And for what I wanted to do specifically - help premium service businesses identify where their brand is losing them clients - a self-assessment made so much more sense than a guide. The quiz does the diagnosing. The result tells them what to do. That’s a much more compelling reason to hand over their email address.
WHY I CHOSE TRYINTERACT

HOW I SET IT UP - STEP-BY-STEP
STEP 1 - CHOOSE THE SCORED QUIZ FORMAT
In TryInteract, when you create a new quiz you choose your quiz type first. I selected Scored - this means each answer has a point value and the total score determines which result page the person sees. My quiz has 10 questions across 5 brand areas, each with 4 answer options worth 1–4 points. Maximum score is 40. I built four result tiers: Foundation Stage (10–19), Gap Stage (20–27), Polish Stage (28–34), and Luxury Standard (35–40).
STEP 2 - WRITE THE QUESTIONS
The questions cover five areas of a premium service brand: visual identity, website experience, messaging, digital presence, and client experience. Two questions per area, four answer options per question. The key was making the answers feel honest rather than obvious. Each answer genuinely reflects where a business is at.
STEP 3: BUILD THE RESULT PAGES
A little time consuming but satisfying! Each of the four result tiers has its own page. I wrote a specific description for each tier explaining what the score means, what the most common gap is at that level, and what to do next. Crucially, each result page has a call to action linking to either a specific service or my free brand clarity call booking link. The result page is where conversion actually happens.
STEP 4: CONNECT TO FLODESK (OR OTHER EMAIL MARKETING PLATFORM)
In Interact's integrations settings, I connected directly to my Flodesk account. The email address field maps automatically. For the quiz score, I first created a custom data field in Flodesk called “Quiz Score”, then came back to Interact and mapped the Quiz Score Value field to it. This means every subscriber who comes through the quiz has their score stored on their Flodesk profile. Useful later when I build out conditional email sequences based on their result tier. STEP 5: TEST EVERYTHING
Before publishing, I went through the quiz as a test subscriber - answered all 10 questions, entered a fake email, checked that the right result page appeared for my score, confirmed the delivery email arrived, and verified the subscriber showed up in Flodesk with the correct quiz score saved. Test everything before you publish. Every step.
STEP 6: PUBLISH AND EMBED THE QUIZ!
Interact gives you a shareable link and an embed code. I updated my bio link to point directly to the quiz, added the link to my Instagram stories using the link sticker, and embedded it on a dedicated page on my website. One URL that does everything.
WHAT HAPPENED AFTER PUBLISHING
The moment the quiz went live, every completion automatically triggered the welcome email sequence I'd built in Flodesk. The subscriber gets their result referenced in the first email, then a series of three follow-up emails over 14 days - each one building on their result and naturally leading toward a conversation about working together.
The whole system runs without me touching it. Someone completes the quiz at 2 am, they get the delivery email immediately, the follow-up at day 3, the case study at day 7, the soft CTA at day 14. I wake up with new subscribers who are already warm, already understand what I do, and have already self-identified their problem.
IS INTERACT WORTH IT?
For what it does - yes, genuinely. The platform is intuitive enough that I built the full quiz in a few hours, the Flodesk integration works without fuss, and the scored quiz format is exactly right for an assessment-style lead magnet.
